I have had many times where i would like to crop some of the images in in the Resources Manager.  Alot of people do not have the tools such as photoshop, fireworks, or any photo editing software.  Creating thumbnails on the fly is the alternative way to shrink the image to fit into the designated space.  So that is fine and works.  But what if you want to upload an image and remove some of the white space or un-wanted parts of the image.  Well, with this tool you are able to do that.  It takes the url of the resource manager and based on the filename extension of the file, it will show a crop link inside the resouce manager tool.  Once you click on the crop link, a window will popup and the image is displayed.  Here you will click and drag on the image section you want to preserve.  Then you hit the crop button to crop the image, it resaves the image back to the filesystem and closes the window.

Notes:
  1. this does require you to replace the current resouces.ascx usercontrol so if you replace it, place backup the original one first.
  2. Since i am using the new beta version, they have included the jquery framework in the systems/scripts folder, if your system does not have the file, uncomment the line in JFCropTool and this will load the jquery framework.
  3. This is only available throught the dashboard and not from the edit page resources link

ENJOY!
